Cappello resigns
Manny Cappello resigned from the Saratoga City Council July 2 to focus on his new job as associate vice chancellor of governmental relations and public communications for West Valley-Mission College District.
Cappello served on the council for 10 years; he was originally appointed to replace Susie Nagpal, who passed away during her term on the council.
Cappello’s current term ends in December. The remaining council members were set to meet July 15 to decide whether to appoint someone to finish out his term.
Mayor Howard Miller, whose council term also ends this year, will not be seeking re-election. Candidates can file to run for these two council seats July 13-Aug. 6. For more information, email city clerk Debbie Bretschneider at Debbieb@saratoga.ca.us.
There are also two vacancies on the Heritage Preservation Commission and one on the Saratoga Planning Commission.
