During this May 14, 2020 episode of The Newsroom @ Home, we featured three of our photojournalists, Karl Mondon, Jane Tyska, and Jose Fajardo who brought us the behind-the-scenes stories from the assignments where they shot some of their favorite photos.
We went in-depth with Jane and Karl to hear about assignments where they captured the devastation of the Camp Fire and Guerneville flooding, seeing the action from in their boats and cars to Jane’s aerial drone shots. We also took a walk through what Occupy Oakland looked liked on the streets and spoke about how today’s COVID-19 crisis is changing the way our photojournalists do their job.
The conversation ended with a look at Jose’s treasure chest of sports photos from all Bay Area teams. He pulled back the curtain on how he gets all those amazing basketball shots during the games, showed us that nuns really do show emotion, and the power of lighting in a photo.
