Cupertino crime report for the week of Dec. 20

Residential Burglary: Between Sept. 7 and Oct. 14, unknown suspect(s) entered a locked storage area for the Main Street Cupertino Lofts on Vallco Parkway by breaking a door and took an electric bicycle and financial paperwork for a total loss of about $1,300.

Theft by False Pretenses: On Sept. 24, unknown suspect(s) telephoned the victim claiming to have a business investment opportunity for the victim. The victim wire transferred money to the suspect(s), with the promise of getting it back. The victim attempted to cancel the transfer but was only able to recover some of the money for a total loss of about $9,500. The victim lives in Cupertino.

Petty Theft: Between 2:52 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Sept. 26, unknown suspect(s) took a mail package from the front door step of a residence in the 20000 block of Town Center Lane for a total loss of about $30.

Mail Theft: Between Sept. 27 and Oct. 7, unknown suspect(s), using unknown means, took mail packages that were to be delivered to the victim’s place of work in the 19000 block of Stevens Creek Boulevard. The victim never received the parcels for a total loss of about $170.

Passing Counterfeit Bills: Between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Sept. 27, unknown suspect(s) used four fictitious $100 bills to make four separate purchases at a carnival at St. Joseph’s of Cupertino on N. De Anza Boulevard.

Commercial Burglary: Between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Sept. 28, two suspects entered Stein Mart in the Homestead Square shopping center on Homestead Road and took about $1,057 of store merchandise without paying.

Vehicle Burglary: Between 8:45 p.m. and 10:10 p.m. on Sept. 30, unknown suspect(s) broke through a window of a vehicle parked at BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse on N. De Anza Boulevard. The vehicle was searched, but nothing was taken.

Shoplifting: At 1:19 p.m. on Sept. 30, two suspects entered Whole Foods Market on Stevens Creek Boulevard and took about $264 of store merchandise without paying. Both suspects were cited and released.

Robbery: At 7:41 p.m. on Sept. 30, two unknown suspects entered Rite Aid in the Homestead Square shopping center on Homestead Road, proceeded directly to the pharmacy, jumped over the counter and robbed the pharmacy by force and fear of prescription medications for an unknown total loss. The suspects fled the scene in a waiting getaway vehicle and are at large.

Vehicle Burglary: Between 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 30, unknown suspect(s) broke through a window of a vehicle parked near Target on Stevens Creek Boulevard and took cash and a passport for a total loss of about $1,700.

Vehicle Burglary: Between 9 p.m. and 10:07 p.m. on Sept. 30, unknown suspect(s) broke through a window of a vehicle parked at Outback Steakhouse on N. De Anza Boulevard. The vehicle was searched, but nothing was taken.

Vehicle Burglary: Between 9:05 p.m. and 9:11 p.m. on Sept. 30, unknown suspect(s) broke through a window of a vehicle parked at Whole Foods Market on Stevens Creek Boulevard. The vehicle was searched, but nothing was taken.

Ignition Interlock Device Required, Suspended License: At 10:33 p.m. on Sept. 30, deputies stopped a motorist at N. De Anza Boulevard and Interstate 280 for a traffic violation. An investigation revealed the suspect driver was driving with a suspended driver’s license in a vehicle without an ignition interlock device, as required by court order. The suspect was cited and released.

Vehicle Burglary: Between 8 p.m. and 8:25 p.m. on Oct. 2, unknown suspect(s) broke through two windows of a vehicle parked at Target on Stevens Creek Boulevard at Saich Way and took two backpacks, one containing cash, for a total loss of about $350.

Vehicle Burglary: Between 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 2, unknown suspect(s) broke through a window of a vehicle parked at Whole Foods Market on Stevens Creek Boulevard and took a laptop for a total loss of about $1,500.

Vehicle Burglary: Between 8 p.m. and 8:44 p.m. on Oct. 2, unknown suspect(s) broke through a window of a vehicle parked at Outback Steakhouse on Valley Green Drive. The vehicle was searched, but it is unknown if anything was taken.

Vehicle Burglary: Between 2:45 p.m. and 4:07 p.m. on Oct. 2, unknown suspect(s) broke through a window of a vehicle parked at the Cupertino Village shopping center on N. Wolfe Road and took cash, clothing, credit cards, electronics, gift cards, keys, a purse and shoes for a total loss of about $6,959.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle: At 8:35 p.m. on Oct. 2, deputies recovered a vehicle, previously stolen from San Jose, in the parking garage for Main Street Cupertino on Stevens Creek Boulevard. The suspect(s) are unknown and at large.

Vehicle Burglary: Between 12:50 p.m. and 1:16 p.m. on Oct. 3, unknown suspect(s) broke through a window of a vehicle parked at the Duke of Edinburgh on N. Wolfe Road and took a purse for a total loss of about $49.

Stolen Vehicle: Between noon on Oct. 3 and 11:40 a.m. on Oct. 17, unknown suspect(s) stole a trailer parked in the 10000 block of Imperial Avenue. The trailer had an approximate value of $3,000.

Theft by False Pretenses: Between Oct. 3 and Oct. 9, unknown suspect(s) telephoned the victim claiming to be a longtime friend. The suspect(s) further claimed involvement in a vehicle accident and stated bail money was needed. The victim complied and mailed magazines with large currency bills taped on pages inside the magazines for a total loss of about $22,000. The victim lives in Cupertino.

Shoplifting: At 9:09 p.m. on Oct. 4, an unknown suspect entered Target on Stevens Creek Boulevard at Saich Way and took about $445 of store merchandise without paying.

Vehicle Burglary: Between 1:10 p.m. and 1:27 p.m. on Oct. 4, unknown suspect(s) broke through a window of a vehicle parked near 99 Ranch Market in the Cupertino Village shopping center on N. Wolfe Road and took a backpack containing electronics for a total loss of about $4,090.

Robbery: At 10:12 p.m. on Oct. 4, an unknown suspect displayed a handgun at the victim in the area of Craft Drive and Finch Avenue and demanded the victim’s backpack and shoes. The suspect and victim got into a physical altercation before the suspect took the victim’s backpack and fled the scene. The backpack contained cash and a game console for a total loss of about $530. The suspect is at large.

Residential Burglary: Between 6:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Oct. 4, unknown suspect(s) entered a residence in the 7500 block of Kirwin Lane by breaking a sliding glass door and took a car key fob, cash and a purse for a total loss of about $4,000.

Vehicle Burglary: Between 10 p.m. on Oct. 5 and 11 a.m. on Oct. 6, unknown suspect(s) broke through a window of a vehicle parked at the Biltmore Apartments on Rodrigues Avenue. The vehicle was searched, but nothing was taken.

Assault and Battery: At 1:54 p.m. on Oct. 5, an unknown suspect, riding a bicycle through the Safeway parking lot in the Homestead Square shopping center on Homestead Road, hit the victim pedestrian in the face with an elbow as the suspect rode past the victim. The suspect is at large.

Ignition Interlock Device Required, Suspended License: At 11:05 p.m. on Oct. 5, deputies stopped a motorist at S. De Anza Boulevard and Interstate 280 for a traffic violation. An investigation revealed the suspect driver was driving with a suspended driver’s license in a vehicle without an ignition interlock device, as required by court order, in violation of the suspect’s probation terms. The suspect was cited and released.

Vehicle Burglary: Between 11:45 p.m. on Oct. 5 and 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 6, unknown suspect(s) broke through a window of a vehicle parked at the Villages at Cupertino apartment complex on Valley Green Drive and took game cards and a power bank for a total loss of about $210.

Ignition Interlock Device Required, Suspended License: At 2:25 a.m. on Oct. 5, deputies stopped a motorist at Valley Green Drive and N. De Anza Boulevard for a traffic violation. An investigation revealed the suspect driver was driving with a suspended driver’s license in a vehicle without an ignition interlock device, as required by court order, and had an outstanding warrant. The suspect was cited and released.

Residential Burglary: At 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 6, three unknown suspects entered a residence in the 10000 block of Plum Tree Lane by kicking in the front door. It is unknown if anything was taken from the residence.

Petty Theft: Between noon and 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 6, unknown suspect(s) took an unsecured bicycle and helmet from a bike rack at Apple on Infinite Loop for a total loss of about $600.

Vehicle Burglary:  At 1:08 a.m. on Oct. 6, unknown suspects broke through a window of a vehicle parked at the Hilton Garden Inn hotel on N. Wolfe Road and took a gym bag containing clothing for a total loss of about $250.

Vehicle Burglary: Between 6:10 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 7, unknown suspect(s) broke through a window of a vehicle parked at the Cupertino Village shopping center on N. Wolfe Road and took a backpack containing a laptop and sunglasses for a total loss of about $2,800.

Commercial Burglary: At 1:32 a.m. on Oct. 7, an unknown suspect entered the convenience store at the 76 gas station on Homestead Road by breaking a window. It is unknown if anything was taken.

Vehicle Burglary: Between 5:30 p.m. and 6:26 p.m. on Oct. 7, unknown suspect(s) broke through a window of a vehicle parked near Azuma Japanese Cuisine in the Portal Plaza shopping center on Stevens Creek Boulevard and took a backpack containing electronics, keys and prescription glasses for a total loss of about $3,759.

Petty Theft: Between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Oct. 7, unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked vehicle parked in the 19000 block of Richwood Drive and took a backpack containing a driver’s license and passport for a total loss of about $40.

Vehicle Burglary: Between 1:35 p.m. and 1:38 p.m. on Oct. 7, an unknown suspect broke through a window of a vehicle parked in front of Legend’s Pizza in the Marketplace shopping center on Stevens Creek Boulevard and took bags containing assorted electronics for a total loss of about $3,842.

Possession of Concealed Dagger: At 2:25 a.m. on Oct. 8, deputies made contact with two subjects walking behind a closed business in the area of Stevens Creek Boulevard and Tantau Avenue. An investigation revealed the suspect was in possession of a concealed knife. The suspect was arrested and booked into Main Jail.

Residential Burglary: Between 10:50 a.m. and 10:53 a.m. on Oct. 8, four unknown suspects entered a residence in the 10000 block of Plum Tree Lane by forcing a side garage door open and took two laptops for a total loss of about $4,974.

Commercial Burglary: At 1:45 a.m. on Oct. 8, two unknown suspects entered Homestead Bowl in the Homestead Center on Homestead Road by breaking a window. The suspects were confronted by an employee inside and quickly fled the scene without taking anything.

Criminal Threats: At 12:15 p.m. on Oct. 8, school officials at Homestead High School on Homestead Road reported a student made criminal threats towards another student. The complaint will be forwarded to the Juvenile Probation Department for review.

Vehicle Burglary: Between 5 p.m. on Oct. 8 and 7:13 a.m. on Oct. 9, two suspects broke through a window of a vehicle parked in the 7500 block of Orange Blossom Drive and took tools for a total loss of about $3,000. The suspects were located a short time later in possession of the stolen property. One of the suspects was arrested after a vehicle pursuit and booked into Main Jail. The other is known and at large.

Reckless Evading, Vehicle Burglary, ID and Mail Theft: At 7:13 a.m. on Oct. 9, deputies attempted to stop a motorist in the 1600 block of S. De Anza Boulevard for a traffic violation, but the driver did not yield and recklessly evaded, fleeing at a high rate of speed until crashing the vehicle, whereupon the suspect driver fled the collision scene on foot. The passenger was detained on scene, and an investigation revealed the suspects just burglarized a vehicle in Cupertino and were in possession of the stolen property, in addition to possessing burglary tools, stolen mail and a notebook with personal identifying information not belonging to the suspects. Further investigation revealed the passenger was also in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The passenger was arrested, while the driver is known and at large.

Residential Burglary: Between 2:15 a.m. and 4:03 a.m. on Oct. 9, unknown suspect(s) entered the open garage of a residence in the 20000 block of Via Palamos Street, entered the vehicle parked therein using unknown means and searched the vehicle but did not taken anything.

Vehicle Tampering: Between 5 p.m. on Oct. 9 and 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 11, unknown suspect(s) took the rear license plate from a vehicle parked in the 20000 block of Northwest Square for an unknown total loss.

Vehicle Burglary: Between 12:50 p.m. and 1:29 p.m. on Oct. 10, unknown suspect(s) broke through a window of a vehicle parked near 99 Ranch Market in the Cupertino Village shopping center on N. Wolfe Road and took a diaper bag containing various baby related items for a total loss of about $200.

Shoplifting: At 5:08 p.m. on Oct. 10, two unknown suspects entered Walgreens in the Pacific Rim shopping center on Bollinger Road and took about $400 of store merchandise without paying.

Petty Theft: Between 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 10, unknown suspect(s) took unsecured cash from the front desk area of a dental office in the 10000 block of S. De Anza Boulevard for a total loss of about $461.

Carjacking, Assault with a Deadly Weapon: At 8:50 p.m. on Oct. 11, the victim was carjacked in the parking garage at the Cupertino Village shopping center on N. Wolfe Road. An investigation revealed the suspect opened the driver’s door of the victim’s vehicle and demanded the victim get out of the car. The victim complied but held on to the car as the suspect drove away, causing injury. The suspect is unknown and at large.

Vehicle Burglary: Between 8:20 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 11, unknown suspect(s) broke through a window of a vehicle parked at the Outback Steakhouse on Valley Green Drive and took a laptop for a loss of about $600. The total amount of damage to the vehicle was approximately $1,000.

DUI, Injury Hit and Run Collision: At 11:24 p.m. on Oct. 12, deputies responded to an injury hit and run collision at N. Wolfe Road and Pruneridge Avenue where the driver fled the collision scene on foot. Deputies located the suspect nearby, and an investigation revealed the suspect was driving under the influence of alcohol. Further investigation revealed the suspect was also in possession of marijuana for sales and provided deputies with false identifying information. The suspect was arrested.

Vehicle Burglary: Between 5 p.m. on Oct. 12 and 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 13, unknown suspect(s) broke through a window of a vehicle parked at the Villages at Cupertino residential complex on Valley Green Drive and took a bottle of hand sanitizer for an unknown total loss.

Vehicle Burglary: Between 5 p.m. on Oct. 12 and 10:10 a.m. on Oct. 13, unknown suspect(s) broke through a window of a vehicle parked at the Villages at Cupertino residential complex on Valley Green Drive and took cash, glasses and wireless earbuds for a total loss of about $560.

ID Theft, Forgery: At 1:05 p.m. on Oct. 13, deputies made contact with the occupants of a suspicious vehicle parked near Ulta Beauty in the Homestead Square shopping center on Homestead Road. An investigation revealed the two suspect occupants were in possession of heroin, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia. Further investigation revealed the passenger also had two outstanding warrants and the suspect driver was in possession of other people’s credit cards, identification, pay stubs and a checkbook used to forge three checks. Both suspects were arrested.

Shoplifting: At 6:28 p.m. on Oct. 13, three unknown suspects entered Safeway in the Homestead Square shopping center on Homestead Road and took about $600 of store merchandise without paying.

Commercial Burglary: Between 7 p.m. on Oct. 13 and 12:10 a.m. on Oct. 14, unknown suspect(s) entered the Omei Academy on Imperial Avenue by removing a window screen and forcing a window open. The suspect(s) took checks for an unknown total loss.

Commercial Burglary: At 2:03 a.m. on Oct. 14, unknown suspect(s) entered KML Pharmacy on S. De Anza Boulevard by breaking the glass front door. The pharmacy was ransacked, but nothing was taken.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon: At 4:07 a.m. on Oct. 14, the suspect confronted and cut the victim with a knife at the Forge Homestead Apartments on Forge Way, but the victim was able to get away. The suspect is unknown and at large.

Trespassing: At noon on Oct. 14, the suspect was trespassing at an Apple Building on Mariani Avenue after previous admonishments not to return to the premises. The suspect is known and at large.

Vehicle Burglary: Between 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Oct. 14, unknown suspect(s) broke through a window of a vehicle parked at Main Street Cupertino on Stevens Creek Boulevard and took bags containing clothing and a laptop for a total loss of about $1,000.

Vehicle Burglary: Between 6 p.m. and 6:19 p.m. on Oct. 14, unknown suspect(s) broke through a window of a vehicle parked at the Cupertino Village shopping center on N. Wolfe Road and took a laptop for a total loss of about $180.

Vehicle Burglary: At 8:05 p.m. on Oct. 14, unknown suspect(s) broke through a window of a vehicle parked at Whole Foods Market on Stevens Creek Boulevard and took a gym bag for an unknown total loss.

Grand Theft: Between 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 14 and 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 15, unknown suspect(s) removed a lock and took two electric bicycles secured to a bike rack on a vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence in the 10000 block of Randy Lane for a total loss of about $4,356.

Vehicle Burglary: At 5:48 p.m. on Oct. 14, unknown suspects broke through a window of a vehicle parked at the Loree Center on Stevens Creek Boulevard and took a backpack containing a laptop for a total loss of about $2,000.

Theft by False Pretenses: Between 8:30 a.m. and 11:24 a.m. on Oct. 15, unknown suspect(s) contacted the victim via e-mail claiming to be the victim’s neighbor and in need of assistance, to which the victim purchased gift cards and provided photos of the card numbers to the suspect(s) for a total loss of about $300. The victim lives in Cupertino.

Vehicle Burglary: Between 4:43 p.m. and 4:50 p.m. on Oct. 16, unknown suspect(s) broke through a window of a vehicle parked at Cupertino Village shopping center on N. Wolfe Road and took a backpack containing a laptop and passports for a total loss of about $1,400.

Vehicle Burglary: Between 9:40 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. on Oct. 16, unknown suspect(s) broke through a window of a vehicle parked at BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse on N. De Anza Boulevard and took luggage containing clothing for a total loss of about $800.

Possession of Dirk/Daggers: At 12:28 a.m. on Oct. 18, deputies made contact with the occupant of a suspicious vehicle parked at the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel on N. Wolfe Road. An investigation revealed the suspect had a concealed dagger and throwing knives in the vehicle, in addition to having an outstanding warrant. The suspect was arrested.

Vehicle Burglary: Between 8:25 a.m. and 10:12 a.m. on Oct. 18, unknown suspect(s) broke through a window of a vehicle parked at the Cupertino Village shopping center on N. Wolfe Road and took a laptop and wallet for a total loss of about $1,330.

Commercial Burglary: Between 3 p.m. on Oct. 18 and 7 a.m. on Oct. 20, unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked storage shed at Kennedy Middle School on Bubb Road. The shed was ransacked, but it is unknown if anything was taken.

Shoplifting: At 6:09 p.m. on Oct. 18, the suspect took store merchandise of an unknown value without paying from T-Mobile in the Saich Way Station shopping center on Stevens Creek Boulevard. The suspect was located nearby after fleeing the scene and was cited and released.

Vehicle Burglary, Assault with a Deadly Weapon: At 10 p.m. on Oct. 18, the victim interrupted unknown suspects searching the victim’s vehicle after they broke one of its windows at the Juniper Hotel on S. De Anza Boulevard. The victim stepped in front of the suspect’s vehicle in an attempt to stop them from fleeing the scene, but the suspects accelerated toward the victim, almost hitting the victim.

Petty Theft: Between noon on Oct. 18 and 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 19, unknown suspect(s) stole a registration tab from the rear license plate of a vehicle parked in the 800 block of S. Tantau Avenue for an unknown total loss.

Attempted Residential Burglary: At 9:33 p.m. on Oct. 19, unknown suspect(s) attempted to enter a residence in the 10000 block of Westacres Drive by breaking a sliding glass door, but quickly fled the scene without making entry upon realizing the victim residents were home at the time.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle: At 2:48 a.m. on Oct. 19, deputies recovered a vehicle, previously stolen from Oakland, at the Hamptons Apartment Homes complex on Pruneridge Avenue. The suspect(s) are unknown and at large.
