Women’s rights lecture
The Saratoga History Museum is hosting a lecture celebrating the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment Jan. 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the Saratoga Foothill Club, 20399 Park Place. Passed in 1920, the 19th amendment gave women the right to vote.
Three members of the Women’s Equality 2020 Leadership Council in Santa Clara County are set to speak. Educator Sharon Bouska will provide a historical overview of the suffrage movement; Microsoft director Sera Fernando will offer a look at the status of diversity in the workplace; and attorney Protima Pandey will give an update on the Equal Rights Amendment.
The 46-member Women’s Equality 2020 Leadership Council was formed by the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors to assist in the county’s efforts to commemorate the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage, ensure a complete census count, broaden electoral participation in 2020 and advance women’s equality.
The lecture is free for all Saratoga Historical Foundation members; non-members are asked for a $5 donation.
