SAN MATEO — A woman was killed early Sunday morning on Highway 101 after being struck twice by two different suspected drunken drivers, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The collision that killed the woman occurred at about 1:44 a.m. on southbound Highway 101 at the State Highway 92 connector, the CHP said.
The woman had gotten out of her Toyota Yaris and was approaching a Dodge Charger which had just struck her when a Toyota Camry plowed into her as she walked along the side of the highway, killing her, the CHP said.
The Charger and Camry drivers were arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, the CHP said. The CHP did not identify the woman or the arrested drivers.
The collision forced the closure of several lanes of southbound Highway 101. The road was clear and lanes were reopened at about 5:38 a.m., the CHP said.
