Get CPR certified

Cupertino residents and volunteers can earn their CPR/AED certification Feb. 1 at Cupertino City Hall. Proof of residency is required for those in the former group.

The event is set for 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Volunteers can sign up at www.cupertino.org/volunteerportal or by emailing to CupertinoMRC@yahoo.com.

Youth Career Day

Students in grades K-8 can explore many careers options at the “What’s in Your Future” event on Saturday, Feb. 1, 10 a.m.-noon, at the Santa Clara County Office of Education, 1290 Ridder Park Drive, San Jose.

More than 15 women in a variety of professions and industries will be available to have casual conversations with students and their families about jobs. Career guests include airline pilot, bank president, chef, civil engineer, dentist, doctor, firefighter, lawyer, police officer, software engineer and television host. Others are working in cybersecurity, housing, recycling and urban planning.

Registration is free at www.eiseverywhere.com/sccoesvrcareerday. The program is presented by the Santa Clara County Office of Education and Silicon Valley Reads 2020. For information, email SVReads@aol.com.

Become a Rebuilder

Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley is looking for volunteer house captains to lead a project on Spring Rebuilding Day, set for April 25.

House captains are responsible for planning and executing a safe and quality rebuilding project by developing a realistic scope of work, creating a materials list, determining volunteer needs, acquiring materials and overseeing the workflow. Training is provided, so no experience is necessary.

Volunteers should save the date for a Feb. 27 kickoff dinner.

For more information, contact Sam Kennard at 408-578-9519, ext. 1009 or sam@rtsv.org.
