Whitney shows ‘31 Women’
The Whitney Modern Gallery celebrates the work of 31 female artists in honor of Women’s History Month with “31 Women,” an exhibit running March 1-April 12.
The exhibit is curated by Marianne McGrath with Karen Gutfreund and Suzanne WhitneySmedt and features artists are from the Bay Area and beyond. Highlighted individually throughout the exhibition are each artist’s process and inspiration, as well as her sense of connection to women in history and art history. Along with the show, artists will be featured on social media, blogs, websites and in the gallery—one woman a day for the month of March.
The opening event for “31 Women” is set for International Women’s Day, March 8, noon-4 p.m. at the gallery, 24 N. Santa Cruz Ave. on the second floor.
