Virtual lectures for older adults
Bay Area Older Adults is presenting two virtual lectures for adults ages 50 and older. Participation is free by phone and/or video conference.
On April 23 Dr. Anne Ferguson will hold forth on “How to Improve Your Sleep.” Ferguson will explain the latest sleep research, ways to improve the quality of your sleep and new non-drug therapies for common sleep problems and will share helpful resources.
On May 7 Dr. Nusrat Khaleeli will present “Understanding Your Microbiome,” explaining the important role the bacteria in your body and ways to keep your gut healthy as you age. Of the 100 trillion or so cells in the human body, only one in 10 are actually human. The rest are from bacteria and other microorganisms which live symbiotically within the human body.
Both lectures are set for 11 a.m.-12:15 p.m. For more information and to register, visit https://www.bayareaolderadults.org/2020-virtual-lectures.

Abuse prevention campaign
In support of Child Abuse Prevention Month in April, the Santa Clara County Child Abuse Prevention Council has partnered with Social Services Agency’s Department of Family and Children’s Services, First 5 and the Santa Clara County Office of Education to promote a VTA ad campaign with the message, “Healthy Relationships are…Safe, Respectful, and Kind.”
Thousands of posters to that effect are being distributed to government offices, community agencies and selected courts county-wide. For more information, visit www.healthyrelationshipsscc.org.
