The annual PlayGround Festival of New Works, which features two Peninsula residents and one San Jose world premiere, has gone digital this year and is streaming most of its events free of charge.

The five-week PlayGround Zoom Fest includes 25 real-time streamed events and highlights three fully produced premiere presentations. The San Francisco-based festival runs through June 14.

Burlingame playwright Geetha Reddy will have a reading of her play, “Safe House,” performed on May 16, while her short film, “Obit” was streamed on May 13.  “Safe House” originally premiered at the San Francisco PlayHouse in February 2010.  Reedy is a PlayGround company member and formerly served on its board.

Belmont actress Lisa Morse will be performing in the reading of “Abominable” by Katie May.  That production, which originally premiered in 2016 at the PlayGround Festival, is scheduled for May 22 at 8 p.m.

Trevor Allen’s “Lolita Roadtrip,” a PlayGround commission, will be presented May 17 as a Livestream reading. The play had its world premiere in 2011 at San Jose Stage, which co-produced with PlayGround.
