Los Gatos is coming back to life slowly but surely, and not too soon for the town’s many fans. Customers are returning to their favorite restaurants as more of them open for outdoor dining.
While nothing is for sure, there is hope of opening outside patio tables soon at Double D’s. In the meantime, co-owners Darin and Dean Devincenzi are coping as best they can with the COVID-19 guidelines. Their popular sports bar is closed for dining and drinking, but they are able to sell bottled goods.
“Believe me, it is still very frustrating. We ask the questions but are not getting the answers,” says Darin Devincenzi,

The folks at the locally owned Italian Brothers restaurant on North Santa Cruz have a festive party-like patio set up. Owners Marco and Giacomo Montevago were taught how to make traditional Italian desserts and cookies by their great-grandfather and their uncle, who operated a bakery in Palermo, Italy. They worked at their father’s Bar Caffe Politeama in the Politeama Theatre, one of Palermo’s great attractions. There they learned the art of making gelato and the traditional Italian espresso and cappuccino.

Many regulars are thrilled that the Los Gatos Diner is open and serving its fabulous burgers. Takeout is available, and some loyalists can be found at the few outside tables. Rootstock wine bar has their patio open and every time I drive by, it is packed.
“The best thing that happened to us was the parklet that expanded our sidewalk dining area,” says server Ivo Sardelic. “And it happened just at the right time.” rootstockwinebar.com
They missed the Cinco de Mayo festivities, but the popular Pedro’s has opened its outdoor patio.
“We were packed last weekend,” Server Talia Rae says. “That was good!”
