Montalvo’s concert season
Pandemic willing, Montalvo Arts Center will open its Carriage House Concert Series Dec. 15 with pianist David Benoit’s Christmas Tribute to Charlie Brown.
The 2020-21 series features several performers whose shows had to be rescheduled due to COVID-19 restrictions, including the Second City comedy troupe, the Brubeck Brothers Quartet, Graham Parker, Judy Collins and a tribute to the Beatles. Tickets for these shows are currently on sale.
New acts in the series include Nochebuena’s Christmas Eve in Mexico, folk rockers Poco, folk singer John McCutcheon, jazz singer Diane Schuur and a tribute to ABBA. Tickets for these shows go on sale July 13 at http://montalvoarts.org/chcs.
While Montalvo’s staff is hopeful that its upcoming concert season will go forward as scheduled, they acknowledged in making the season announcement that there may be changes to ticketing and seating processes, as well as mailing timelines and day-of-show procedures.
Clean energy milestone
With the approval of a contract with 8minute Solar Energy in June, Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) has more than $1 billion committed to building and operating renewable energy generation plants for residents and businesses in Santa Clara County.
The Sunnyvale-based agency now has seven contracts totaling $1.134 billion for renewable energy facilities with 384 MW of generating capacity, enough to serve 37 percent of SVCE’s retail energy sales annually.
“This is a great illustration of how we are actively searching out the best opportunities to make an impact on climate change and serve our customers,” said Saratoga Mayor Howard Miller, who serves as SVCE board chairman.
SVCE serves more than 270,000 residential and commercial customers in Santa Clara County, including Saratoga. For more information, visit SVCleanEnergy.org.
