Our staff photojournalists take a look at life around the Bay Area on Day 7 of Bay Area coronavirus shelter-in-place.

Gov. Gavin Newsom warned that social distancing measures could last two or three months, and he closed parking at some state parks and beaches, with more likely to follow as cooped-up residents take to the great outdoors to exercise and get some fresh air. According to the governor, 50,000 more hospital beds are needed to handle coronavirus outbreak. BART reduced service hours as ridership plummetted and a coronavirus test center opened in Hayward on Monday.

Medical supply donation stations were set up at Kaiser Permanente in Oakland and Walnut Creek, groceries were distributed at a drive-through grocery station set up behind Flights in Los Gatos and Falcon Spirits Distillery owner and biochemist Farid Dormishian made FDA-approved hand sanitizer in Richmond. Over the weekend, the federal government began setting up a medical emergency facility at the Santa Clara Convention Center.

The California Nurses Association held a rally today to protest the lack of coronavirus supplies at the Kaiser Permanente Walnut Creek Medical Center, where they stayed 6-feet apart on the sidewalk.

Alameda County reported its first death due to the coronavirus, alongside 16 new cases. The Bay Area’s death toll is now 14.
