The coronavirus pandemic may have dramatically changed everyday life in America. Thankfully, however, we still have “Jeopardy.”
And on Monday, we had a Walnut Creek woman proudly representing the Bay Area on the venerable game show. Michonne Omo, a staff attorney, came into the week with a two-game winning streak and $22,800 in winnings.
And going into Final Jeopardy, she was again was asserting her dominance. After two spirited, back-and-forth rounds in which she waged several comebacks, Omo had amassed $17,800 to lead Kimberly Flynn ($16,400) and Vikram Prasad ($7,800).
But that’s when her luck ran out, thanks to a bold, James Holzhauer-like wager from Flynn, an editor-writer from Wayne, Pennsylvania. With a Final Jeopardy category of “1970s Sitcoms,” Flynn got gutsy, wagering her entire total and guesseing correctly to finish at $32,800.
Omo also guessed correctly — her first correct Final Jeopardy response in three tries — but wagered an oh-so-timid $7,800 to wind up at $25,600.
For those scoring at home, the Final Jeopardy answer was: “A warning on early episodes said this show ‘Seeks to throw a humorous spotlight on our frailties, prejudices and concerns.”
The correct response? “All in the Family,” of course.
Prasad, incidentally, got it wrong with a response of “Fawlty Towers.”
