Infant care needs
Parents in need of baby formula, diapers and other sanitary products during the COVID-19 pandemic can request them for free from the nearest family resource center. Several city and county departments have teamed up with school districts, including the Campbell Union School District, and community groups to gather and distribute infant care items to people in the South Bay. To find the nearest center and make an appointment, visit tinyurl.com/SVInfantCare.
Virtual library
To help connect patrons who are sheltering in place with the resources they need, the Santa Clara County Library District has redesigned the main page of its new website at sccld.org to focus on virtual programs and services.
These include online story times in English, Spanish and Mandarin for families; live career and professional development sessions for job seekers; homework and writing assistance and live one-on-one tutoring in a wide variety of subjects for students; and virtual book clubs for all ages.
To ensure that everyone has access to these free resources, the district is offering temporary eCard registration access to all Santa Clara County residents.
Live support is available at 408-540-3947 to help patrons with their research, collection-related inquiries and at 408-540-3945 for account questions.
Homeschooling resources
While there is a light at the end of the homeschooling tunnel, the school year isn’t quite over yet. The county’s Office of Education released specialized online resources for at-home instruction to help parents and students get through the final push. The office also opened a chat forum for parents to consult with each other and with specialists. The resources are available at tinyurl.com/SCCEducation.
